Taking pencil to paper, we will listen to you then create. Your hand drawn sketch will take inspiration from any ideas you may have collected on Pinterest boards, social media, bridal magazine tears or in your dreams.
With our creative eye and best judgement we design and create a fashion sketch that best reflects your wish list and unique design requirements. We will bring your vision and bridal dream to life as our pencil glides across the pages of our sketchbook.

At Valencienne, we pride ourselves in using only the best, most luxurious fabrics that have been sourced from far and wide to perfectly enhance the look and style of your gown. Upon the completion of your illustration, a fabric proposal is discussed in detail from our extensive collection of samples and swatches.
Most of our fabrics are made of 100% silk, a natural and luxurious fabric made from Silk worms. This silk threading is woven into many different types of fabrics such as duchess, dupion, chiffon, taffeta and crepe, each more gorgeous than the next which makes it our fabric of choice. Being that there are certain styles of wedding gowns that require more stretch, a nude silhouette or tulle base we choose to use a high quality synthetic fabric.
Every lace has a unique story, especially our laces. Sourced from French lace mills, each lace taking hours to weave, every lace is completely unique, exactly like our gowns! Laces that have been produced by our suppliers have graced couture creations for designers such as Dior, Channel, Prada, Marchesa, and Oscar de la Renta. These special lace designs have married royals, received awards at the Oscars and walked the red carpet at the Met gala. Our laces are the crème de la crème of gorgeousness. The beauty of each pattern and design allows us the freedom to create pieces of art for each of our brides.
Pulling your dream gown off the page, we use a soft, mold-able raw cotton fabric called Muslin to create the pattern of your gown before we cut into your gorgeous fabric. Not the prettiest of fittings, but so important to our standards of fit. We invite you to a fitting at our Toronto boutique, so we can pin, draw and adjust the fabric right on your body, ensuring you love all the elements before we begin your gown –it is imperative that you bring whatever undergarments you are planning to wear on your wedding day.
Upon completion, your pattern is born and we are ready to begin with cutting your fabric.
FABRIC FITTING
Using our custom fit pattern from your mock-up canvas, we will now cut your gown from your chosen fabric and laces and lightly stitch your gown together. Baste stitching allows us to fit the gown and make further adjustments before the gown is securely hand sewn together. You will see the base fabric of your gown, the flow, length and feel and we can once again ensure everything is perfectly tailored to your body. At this fitting we take the opportunity to discuss the embellishments that will adorn your gown.
Soft shimmers of beading or soft organza florets that add that touch of sparkle and couture for our brides. Every bead and embellishment on our gowns is hand sewn by our hand finishers in store or overseas in Dubai. Beaded only with the finest Swarovski crystals, beads, seed beads, sequins or hand cut pieces of luxurious French lace, each dress is detailed by hand to ensure every piece has a specific place in our designs.
Following your Fabric fitting – your gown is sewn together securely to ensure the highest quality craftsmanship and construction. Now we need the pretty details. This is when all those tiny hand sewn beads, flowers and crystals begin to take shape on your gown. You will come in to see how the details work on your shape to ensure they accentuate all the right areas.
Your dress is almost complete! You will attend one (or a few if needed) fittings to make the final adjustments to your gown. This includes your hem (now that you have your dream shoes!), final zipper and closure details as well as any fine tuning we need to make to your fit, fabric and embellishments.
Your gown is ready to go! We’re pretty much crying and wishing you could get married every year so we can have you in our store every week!
You visit us one final time, trying on your gown and doing our signature catwalk down the hall, watching your dream gown come to life on you as you move through the store. It’s perfect, you’re now crying and we’re in awe of how stunning you look in our creation. You slip it off and take it home. Ready to wear this gorgeous dress on the most amazing day of your life!
SKETCH
