I’ve been a huge fan of Elsa Corsi and her jewellery since I first meet her a number of years ago at the Wedluxe Show. She is the incredible force and designer behind this exceptional jewellery line. We both realized that her sparkles would compliment our Valencienne gowns beautifully and that our store would be a great location for Elsa to host Trunk shows for Toronto Brides. Her jewel’s are meticulously made of the finest Swarovski crystal using a very old hand soldering technique that was made famous in the 50’s by the Jewellery company Sherman. The quality of these pieces are truly heirlooms to be passed on for generations.
As a bridal designer, it is important to me to make sure that every bride walks out of my store and down the aisle looking both radiant and flawless in their Valencienne design along with being accessorized with jewels that complete their “bridal vision”.
There is something about Elsa Corsi jewelry that stands apart from the rest. Her designs are one of a kind and customized for each and every bride. Whether you sit down with Elsa herself and come up with a piece that is completely custom designed or you have a sentimental accessory that you want to be created into something new – Elsa’s your girl!
Let’s talk for a minute about your accessories. Whether you stick to the classics (glittering diamonds, pearls, swarovskis, etc) or want to switch it up for colour, it’s all about proportions and personal style. There is such a thing as “too much” but I find for most it’s actually “not enough”. Having said that, I do believe that it is important to keep in mind your overall bridal look.
When choosing your accessories you want to keep in mind a few pointers:
– How big is the gown that you have decided to wear?
– Which hair style are you going to wear on your wedding day?
– What overall look am I going for?
– What details of my gown can be enhanced with my jewels?
Attending a trunk show like the Elsa Corsi Trunk show, some brides walk in and easily get overwhelmed with seeing such a beautiful collection of so many unique pieces. We first like to discuss with our brides about the design of their gown and which size of jewelry would be the right proportion for their gown. A lot of the time we find that a brides accessories either get lost in their grand, over the top design or the jewels they have chosen are to oversized and bold for their delicate, sleek design. Balance is key! Its important to make sure that the jewelry you have chosen compliments the design of your gown rather then take over. For example, if your gown is a form fitting, low back Chantilly lace design, maybe you would consider wearing a delicate lariat necklace made of Swarovski crystal. A piece like that would compliment the low back rather then taking over the delicate details.
Some key suggestions for your big day:
– Earrings are a must from smaller studs to large dangles
– Consider doing something demure and regal for the ceremony but then go big and bold (even a colour change) for the reception!
– Necklaces should compliment the gowns decollatage and enhance it; not hinder it
– Bracelets are a great option but beware of large stones that may catch on delicate gowns
– If you have a family heirloom jewelry piece you love; consider having it re-worked. Necklaces make great bracelets, earrings or even a hairpiece!
